The handle works in conjunction with a spring loaded, fail-safe mechanism.  Extending the Ecolift access platform is easy, with little effort required from the operator. These non-powered access towers are also extremely safe to use. They are tough and robust structures that can cope with the demands of challenging work in busy areas. The platform features a lockable gate with handrails and toe guards of the right height and dimensions to secure the user on the platform and prevent accidental falls. The auto-lok brake system engages when anyone steps on to the platform and on platform elevation, so there is no risk of surfing.

These versions of the Ecolift towers can also be used on ground with a gradient of up to 3º.
