We have scaffold tower hire available nationwide. Towers provide a much safer and secure means of working at heights – at home and on-site. They are self-build and easy to assemble. Alloy towers are ideal for working safely and comfortably. They are also incredibly sturdy and easy to move to new areas because of the wheels at the base. These platforms are ideal for overhead installations, decorating jobs, repairs, construction projects and more. You can use them both indoors and outdoors, and they are suitable for up to two users at once.

Our aluminium towers use the 3T (Through The Trapdoor) method. 3T offers safe and secure access to the platform through a trapdoor. You climb the built-in ladder system from inside the frame of the tower. You reach the work platform internally and in stages. 3T prevents you from climbing up the outside of the scaffolding, which could result in a fall from a height.

When assembling the structure, you can install platforms at different heights. For example, when you climb up the built-in ladder, you can access the lower level platform through a trapdoor. From there, you can climb up further to a higher platform. This ensures that the structure of the tower fully supports you as you climb up to the top.

Understanding tower sizes

Towers are available in a wide range of sizes. The ‘Tower Height’ is measured to the of the top handrail, which is 1m above the platform, where your feet will be. The ‘working height’ of a tower is 1m above the handrail. This is going by the average person having a reach of about 2m. So, for example, if you need to reach 6m up for a job, a 5.2m tower height would be perfect for you. All towers above 9.7m are only recommended for internal use.

We supply ‘double width (1.45m)’ and ‘single width (0.93m)’, and with a choice of either a 2.5m or 1.8m long work platform. Normal width towers provide plenty of space for workers and equipment, so they are ideal for many different jobs. You can use narrow width towers in stairwells, alleys, corridors, and confined forecourts. They are compact enough to use safely in tighter spaces.

How to use an access tower safely

Our tower scaffolds have colour coded bracing to assist quick and easy assembly. The platforms are fitted with a wind lock to ensure extra stability and durability. Safety toe boards, stabilisers and adjustable locking castors are also provided. These features ensure a convenient and practical solution to your access problems. They also assist your safety and security. Each tower, regardless of size, has a maximum total safe working load of 950kg. 950kg is the full load that you can place on the castors. When checking the SWL for your tower, you must first deduct the towers' self-weight from the overall SWL. This gives you the maximum payload of the user, plus tools and materials.

When you build your tower, ensure that the ground or surface is firm and level. A good surface maintains tower stability. Do not use objects like bricks, slabs, or boards to level the ground, raise the tower height, or take the weight of any part of the tower. If stabilisers are specified in the component guide, use them. Never use a tower as support for ladders, trestles, or other access equipment.

When you build the structure, use all of the components that are supplied. Each part ensures that the tower is of adequate strength, so the tower could fail if any sections are left out. Likewise, if you think you are missing any sections or have been provided with broken or incompatible parts, contact us before using the equipment.

When you want to move an erected tower, reduce the height to at least 4m first. Look out for power cable and other obstructions overhead. Holding on to the base, push or pull the tower manually to move it across a flat surface. Do not move a tower if anyone or anything is on the platform.

When working outdoors, do not use a tower in strong winds.
