Butt welded HDPE pipes are used for water mains, fire ring mains, sewer mains, and gas mains pipelines, as well as for electrical and telecomms conduits. For butt welding, you simply prepare sections of pipe then press them against the hot plate. The hot plate is programmed to reach a specific temperature for a specific length of time, appropriate for the size of the pipe. Once the butt ends are heated to the correct temperature - indicated by a green light - remove the hot plate and force the ends of the pipes together. As they are pushed together and cool down, a permanent and reliable weld is created. Butt welding is one of the easiest jointing methods, requiring no additional components or complicated machinery.
